About grief services

​Grief services are available free of charge to anyone in the community who has experienced the death or are anticipating the death of a family member or friend.  We also offer education, training & support to businesses and schools.

Adult Grief Support
  • Individual, couples and family grief counseling provided by licensed counselors, interns or trained grief support volunteers.​

​Children, Teen & Family Support
  • Grief counseling & play therapy for children, teens & families. 
  • Grief Workshops/Groups offered in Petaluma & Santa Rosa. 
  • Yearly events offered for families.
Circle of Support: Drop-In Group
  • A grief group for adults who have experienced the loss of a loved one.
    • Hospice of Petaluma: 1st & 3rd Thursdays |     12:30 – 1:30 PM
    • Memorial Hospice: 1st & 3rd Monday    |     12:30 – 1:30 PM
Grief 101: Navigating Early Grief
  • A drop-in class for those who have experienced a loss in recent days, weeks or months
    • Hospice of Petaluma: 2nd & 4th Monday  |  4:30 - 5:30 PM
    • Memorial Hospice: 2nd & 4th Tuesday    |     4:30 - 5:30 PM
Child Loss Drop-In Group
  • A drop-in group for those who have a lost a child of any age.
    • Hospice of Petaluma: 2nd Tuesday  |  4:00 - 5:00 PM
    • Memorial Hospice: 2nd Monday    |     4:00 - 5:00 PM
Journey Through Grief: A monthly hiking group for young adults
  • An informal gathering on the Second Saturday of the Month to hike with others in their 20's and 30's.

Eight-Week Adult Grief Support Groups
  • Offered day and evening. Pre-group interview and registration required. Offered in Winter, Spring and Fall; subject to availability.

Latino Services (Servicios para Latinos)
  • Services provided in Spanish for individual adults, children, teens, families & couples. Groups subject to availability.​
Senior Care Program
  • Individual and group grief support provided for adults 65+ who are home-bound or living in skilled nursing or residential care facilities.
Workshops & Events
  • A variety of one-day events and workshops are offered.  See our Calendar page for more information.​
Crisis Response & Sudden Loss
  • Crisis response team is available to Schools, Workplaces & Community groups who have experienced a sudden & unexpected loss.  We provide grief education and support to help communities recover and re-organize after a loss.
Educational Presentations
  • We offer presentations by skilled grief counselors for schools, community providers and agencies.
